October 31, IFAM 2020 (International Forum on Advanced Materials 2020) was held in Xi’an International Conference Center. Combined with the trends and national strategy, the Forum served as an extensive exchange platform for talents in the field of material science and technology. Thirty-two academicians, over 390 well-known materials scientists at home and abroad, 100 prominent young scholars, and thousands of people concerned from all walks of life gathered to learn the frontier of the material share the research results and discuss the direction of new materials.
The forum was sponsored by the Faculty of Chemical, Metallurgy and Material Engineering of Chinese Academy of Engineering, China Materials Research Society, Materials Academic Alliance, National Advisory Committee on New Materials Industry Development Strategy, and Xi'an Municipal People’s Government. It was hosted by Xi’an Jiaotong University and Beijing University of Technology and provided new materials industry exhibition.
At the forum, more than 390 well-known material scientists at home and abroad excellently reported on 27 breakouts, including metamaterials, material interface characterization, ultrasonic materials, computational materials, high-entropy alloy and amorphous materials, biomedical materials, light metal structural materials, preparation and forming of 3D printing materials, and mechanical behavior of materials. Besides, the Organizing Committee of the Forum, together with the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Education Committee of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, organized the 6th IFAM Excellence Young Scientists Forum, attracting 100 excellent young scholars to conduct 102 reports and academic exchanges in six fileds, namely, metal materials, energy materials, nanomaterials, functional materials, inorganic non-metallic materials, and catalytic materials.
IFAM is an academic conference initiated by Professor Zhou Lian who is a famous Chinese expert in the superconductor and rare metal material, as ignificant pioneer in superconducting materials and engineering technology, a major pionner as well as founder of superconducting industrialization in China, and also one of the first academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Since 2011, the IFAM has been sponsored by the Faculty of Chemical, Metallurgy and Material Engineering of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Materials Academic Alliance, National Advisory Committee on New Materials Industry Development Strategy, and China Materials Research Society. The Form aims to know the cutting-edge trends of material research and development and accelerate the cultivation of young material talents in China, which is an influential academic activity in new materials and high-end platform presenting the latest move of materials discipline at home and abroad.
