Two Scholars From BJUT Received National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars 2020

The National Natural Science Foundation of China responded to applicants for National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2020, and according to the shortlist, two scholars from BJUT received funding. So far, the number of BJUT winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars has risen to 15.

The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars supports young scholars who have a great track record in basic research to choose their own research direction and carry out innovative research. The purpose of the program is to drive the growth of young scientific and technological talents, attract overseas talents, and cultivate prominent academic leaders at the forefront of science and technology worldwide.

Introduction of Scholars:

XI Xiaoli: She is mainly engaged in the research on new technology and mechanism of recycling waste rare and precious metals, the technology and basic theory of ultra-fine powder preparation with low-temperature metallurgy, the new preparation technology of RE-W thermionic electron emission materials, and the application of high-temperature dust removal; she led the research missions of 863 Program and National Natural Science Foundation of China; besides, she won the second prize of State Scientific and Technological Progress Award and the first prize of Science and Technology Progress from China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, the first prize of Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Progress, the gold award of the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva and the second prize of Beijing Municipal Invention Patent.

Funded project: scientific basis of rare/refractory metals recycling and preparation

LU Dechun: He is mainly engaged in the research of geotechnical and urban underground engineering. He presided over 3 national key projects/subjects as thedirector. In recent 5 years, he has published more than 30 papers in Géotechnique JMPS, CMAME, and other prestigious journals in this field as the first author or corresponding author and obtained 12 national invention patents. In addition, he also won the second prize of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award and the 15th China Youth Science and Technology Award.

Funded projects: Geotechnical and urban underground engineering
