BJUT held a video conference with Punjab University, Pakistan, on March 25. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, President of the University of the Punjab attended the meeting and Guo Fu, Vice President of BJUT, was present, accompanied by relevant leaders of the International Office and College of Art & Design.
Vice President Guo Fu briefed BJUT’s history, characteristics of discipline, and international exchanges and cooperation, mainly on the excellent research achievements and extensive application of the College of Art & Design. He pointed out that two universities’ characteristic disciplines can be strongly combined based on this cooperation. He hoped that the two sides would further implement and strengthen practical cooperation in teacher-student exchanges and research, achieve substantive results and promote the integrated development of relevant disciplines.
President Niaz Ahmad Akhtar briefly introduced the basic profile of Punjab University and its strength in art, archaeology, and relicrestoration. He said that the China-Pakistan friendship is stronger and he hoped that the two universities can work together to deepen the exchanges between teachers and students on the basis of signing the memorandum of understanding (MOU) and focus on promoting the partnership on master and doctoral joint training. The two sides formally signed a MOU at the end of the meeting.
Founded in 1882, the University of the Punjab, located in Lahore, Punjab Province, is Pakistan’s oldest and largest national comprehensive research university. It has nurtured three Nobel Prize winners. Currently, the university has 5 campuses, 13 colleges, 73 departments, and research centers. Its advantageous majors include Art, Economics and Management, Education, Engineering, Medical Treatment, Biology, Philosophy, and East Asian Studies.
