The 11th BJUT Cultural Festival and Culture & Sports Carnival Opened

The 11th BJUT Cultural Festival and Cultural & Sports Carnival of BJUT opened on April 14. At 7:30 p.m., the opening ceremony started with the performance “Youth Comes in Time” that combined rap, street dance, skateboarding, etc. by students from different societies to the energetic music.

On the opening ceremony, Ms Dong Jing, teaching staff from the College of Marxism, and Guo Zhaoxin, student from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences who signed up to serve Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics delivered speeches on behalf of 3,383 volunteers. BJUT leaders presented souvenirs to these volunteers who will be serving in the frontline of Winter Olympics.

Guests and volunteers rode the spin bikes together, and with the rotation of wheels, the banner reading “New Journey to Build Dreams with Youthful Hearts under the Leadership of the Party” on the outer wall of Yifu Library and the image of “Yan Xiaobei” - the BJUT mascot who was doing winter sports activities were lit up gradually, which marked the official launch of the 11th Campus Cultural Festival.

After the opening ceremony, the student choir, dance troupe and volunteers performed the song and dance “Burning Snowflake”, extending the invitation: Let’s meet in the Winter Olympics, BJUT is ready!

As the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics approach, to attract more faculty members and students to learn and serve the Winter Olympics, and participate in ice and snow sports, the simulated ice and snow activities of the Winter Olympics such as “Floor curling”, “VR Skiing”, and “Winter Olympics-themed Graffiti” were provided in the sunken plaza of Yifu Library during the opening day of this cultural festival, in conjunction with the publicity for ice and snow sports in vivid forms such as laser shows, actively creating an atmosphere for serving the Winter Olympics on campus and guiding faculty members and students to actively volunteer for Winter Olympics.

The simulated ice and snow sports activities of Winter Olympics attracted the participation of many faculty members and students. At the opening ceremony, BJUT leaders and the students tried the “Floor curling” and “VR skiing” activities together. BJUT leaders fully affirmed the practice of integrating technological innovation into student activities. The leaders also issued certificates of participation to the key members of curling club “Sweepers” for joining the curling contest in the “Meet in Beijing” winter sports test activities, encouraging students to strengthen training and serve the Winter Olympics.
