First Counselor of the Polish Embassy in China, Maria Wejs-Domzalska, Visited BJUT

On May 13, Maria Wejs-Domzalska, First Counselor of the Polish Embassy in China, and her delegation visited Beijing University of Technology (BJUT). Prof. Guo Fu, Vice President of BJUT, met with the delegation on behalf of the university, accompanied by Prof. Liu Zhaomiao, director of BJUT International Office.

Vice President Guo Fu welcomed Counselor Maria Wejs-Domzalska and briefly introduced BJUT and its international exchanges and cooperation. He pointed out that the BJUT Opole Confucius Institute had developed into an influential Chinese language teaching institution in Poland and a platform for cultural exchanges between China and Poland since its establishment in 2008; The "Belt and Road Initiative" Sino-Polish University Consortium (SPUC), has successfully implemented a series of brand activities and formed a work pattern with Poland as the core and radiating Central and Eastern Europe since its establishment in 2017. He emphasized that BJUT attached great importance to exchanges and cooperation with Polish universities, and hoped that with the strong support of the Chinese and Polish governments and embassies, the scale and influence of the SPUC could be further expanded, the joint scientific research activities between Chinese and Polish universities could be strengthened, and sustainable development of the Confucius Institute and its subordinate Confucius Classrooms could be promoted, so as to make more contributions to the comprehensive exchanges and cooperation between China and Poland.

Counselor Maria Wejs-Domzalska expressed her gratitude to BJUT for its warm reception. She highly praised the remarkable achievements made by BJUT in promoting education and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Poland in recent years, and pointed out that the establishment and development of the "Belt and Road Initiative" Sino-Polish University Consortium has aroused positive and extensive attention and responses in Poland, being a demonstration model for the China-Poland exchanges and cooperation in higher education. She briefly introduced Poland's policies and measures for global cooperation after the implementation of higher education reforms in recent years, and said that she would continue to pay close attention to and strongly support the exchanges and cooperation between BJUT and Polish universities. She hoped that the two-way exchanges of the faculty members and students between Chinese and Polish universities could continue to increase, and scientific research cooperation could be closer, so as to strongly deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

After the meeting, Counselor Maria Wejs-Domzalska and the leaders of BJUT area study teams conducted discussions on China-Poland education, culture, agriculture, and economic and trade exchanges and cooperation.
