On June 17, the conference to mark the 20th anniversary of the Journal of Beijing University of Technology (hereinafter referred to as “the Journal”) & Seminar on March Towards the Goal of Carbon Neutrality was held. The conference was attended by Nie Zuoren, President of BJUT, CAE Academician and Chair of BJUT Academic Committee, Zhong Weimin, Vice President of Chinese Society of College Journals in Humanities and Social Sciences and Executive Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Tsinghua University (Philosophy and Social Sciences), Liu Zhongxiang, Deputy Head of Xinhua Digest, Guo Chaoxian, Researcher of Institute of Industrial Economics of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Li Siping, Deputy Secretary of CPC BJUT Committee and Chief Editor of the Journal of Beijing University of Technology (Social Sciences Edition), Pan Jiahua, member of the Academic Division of CASS, Director of Research Institute for Eco-civilization and professor of College of Economics and Management of BJUT, and Li Guojun, assistant president of BJUT and Dean of College of Economics and Management of BJUT.
President Nie Zuoren said that the China’s carbon peak & neutrality goal not only satisfied the major demand of global climate governance, protection of the earth and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, but was also in the interests of China itself to achieve high-quality development, ecological well-being and the comprehensive management of ecological environment.” To identify “policies and technologies that help achieve the goal of carbon neutrality”, BJUT has carried out fruitful research in the fields of energy and climate policy research, material life cycle assessment, control of greenhouse gases and environmental pollutants, green building technology, and low-carbon and eco-friendly material, laying a solid research foundation. “This seminar is expected to further bring together relevant parties inside and outside BJUT to help China accomplish the goal of carbon neutrality as scheduled. In the meantime, I hope that the future development of the journal will keep up with the strategic demand of Beijing and China. The Journal should become a brand name, and a part of the theoretical support for the strategic decision making of the government.” said President Nie.
Mr. Zhong Weimin and Mr. Liu Zhongxiang, as industry representatives, congratulated on the 20th anniversary of the Journal, and put forward constructive suggestionson its future development. Mr. Pan Jiahua and Mr. Guo Chaoxian delivered keynote speeches on the research outcomes of carbon neutrality. More than 70 experts, scholars, and teacher and student representatives from the CASS, Renmin University of China, Tsinghua University, Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, and BJUT exchanged views and had discussions on relevant subjects.
