On September 8, a delegation led by Ann Derwin, the Irish Ambassador to China, visited BJUT and attended the opening ceremony for the 2021 freshmen of Beijing-Dublin International College (BDIC).

On behalf of BJUT, Secretary Xie Hui welcomed the delegation, and briefly introduced BJUT and BDIC. He said that since its establishment in 2012, BDIC has developed into a model of Sino-foreign joint educational institution and an important bridge for China-Ireland cultural exchanges. Its remarkable achievements are inseparable from the strong support of the governments of China and Ireland. BJUT will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with relevant Irish universities in teaching, scientific research and talent cultivation, and further enhance the quality and influence of the BDIC.

Ambassador Ann Derwin expressed her gratitude to BJUT for the warm reception and highly praised BDIC for its important role in advancing the cultural exchanges between China and Ireland and its leading role in promoting Chinese-Irish cooperation in running educational institutions. She briefly introduced Ireland's participation in the 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services as the guest of honor, and highlighted the China-Ireland cooperative research projects jointly established by the Science Foundation Ireland and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. She said that the Irish Embassy in China will continue to pay close attention to and vigorously support the exchanges and cooperation between BJUT and relevant Irish universities, and strive to elevate China-Ireland educational exchanges and cooperation to a higher level.

After the meeting, the two sides attended the opening ceremony for the 2021 freshmen of BDIC.
