Congratulations! Prof. Du Xiuli Elected as Member of CAE

On November 18, the China Academy of Engineering (CAE) officially announced the names of its newly elected 2021 members. BJUT Prof. Du Xiuli was elected as a member of CAE in the Civil, Hydraulic and Architecture Engineering Academic Division. Membership of the CAE is the highest academic title in engineering sciences and technology in China, representing the highest academic level and reputation in the engineering community.

Prof. Du Xiuli is currently the Vice President of BJUT. He is a Ph.D. supervisor and has taken the lead of the discipline of Civil Engineering. His research has been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Innovation Research Group Project and Excellent Young Scientists Project. He was awarded the title of Beijing Strategic Scientist, and Beijing Scholar.

After he obtained his Ph.D. degree in May 1990 from the Institute of Engineering Mechanics, CEA, Prof. Du was appointed as senior engineer in 1996. Since joining BJUT in 2001, Prof. Du has devoted decades of efforts in teaching, research and practice on earthquake engineering. He has made outstanding contributions to structure-foundation-soil coupled earthquake resistance.

Focusing on economic and social needs at the national and regional levels, Prof. Du has presided over and completed five national major scientific research projects, and nearly one hundred national and provincial level projects. He has won five National Science and Technology Progress Second Prizes and four provincial and ministerial level Science and Technology Progress First Prizes. He has published more than two hundred papers in world renowned journals, six bilingual works, and obtained twenty-one invention patents (including four international patents). His students have been awarded two Excellent Young Scientists Funds, and one National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation.
