According to the recently published 2022 Report on National Top 100 Index for Science and Technology Innovation (Enterprises, Colleges and Universities, Research Institutions), Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) has been included in the list of the top 50 Chinese colleges and universities in terms of excellence in scientific and technological innovation, becoming one of the eleven institutions of higher education based in Beijing which are on the list.

Since the start of the nation's 13th Five-Year Plan period, BJUT has realized an impressive series of high-end scientific and technological advances, with remarkable achievements in new intellectual property rights. Breakthroughs have been made by the University's state-level scientific and technological innovation teams; the construction of new innovation platforms and scientific research bases has continuously progressed, facilitating the increasing application and transfer of technological achievements. As a result, BJUT has improved its ability to serve the capital city's development.
