On August 11, Beijing-Dublin International College at Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) awarded degrees from University College Dublin (UCD) to the Class of 2022. The Irish Ambassador to China, Her Excellency Ann Derwin, the President of BJUT Nie Zuoren, the Acting President of UCD Mark Rogers, and leaders of the Beijing-Dublin International College attended the Conferring Ceremony.
Ann Derwin said in her speech that as a graduate of UCD, it was very special for her to attend the ceremony. Since 2012, Beijing-Dublin International College, as a result of high-standard international cooperation, has developed into a global innovator, pioneer and leader, producing a large number of internationally competitive, high-quality graduates. Ireland welcomes graduates of the College to study and work there, the door of opportunity always being open for them. In addition, Ann Derwin invited the graduates to join the China-Ireland Alumni Association to jointly create more opportunities for friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and Ireland.
BJUT President Nie Zuoren extended his congratulations to the graduates of the College. Over the past ten years, the college has produced more than 1,500 outstanding graduates, which would not have been possible without the support and co-operation of BJUT and UCD. During the pandemic, UCD fully supported its faculty members in their return to Beijing for teaching, demonstrating its sense of responsibility as a world-class university and its commitment to excellence in teaching quality. President Nie hoped that the graduates would bear in mind the mottos of the two universities, become contributors to global development, practitioners of international cooperation and defenders of world peace, and work tirelessly to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
Mark Rogers expressed his great pride in the Class of 2022 for completing their studies and for demonstrating their resilience in the face of COVID-19. He stressed that UCD is proud of its long-term cooperation with China, especially the fact that the College has been widely recognized as a model of transnational education. Many graduates have furthered their studies at UCD and other world-class universities. He hoped that both universities will continue to foster the values of excellence, innovation, integrity, collaboration and diversity. He sincerely wished the graduates success in blazing their own paths to a bright future.
Leaders of the College introduced the graduation facts and figures of the Class of 2022.
