On March 19, the final of the 13th "Challenge Cup" National College Students Entrepreneurship Competition came to an end. BJUT won one Gold Award, one Silver Award and five Bronze Awards, as well as the "Champion Cup" title in the competition. BJUT Party Secretary Jiang Zeting and President Nie Zuoren met with the representatives of the winning students and faculties members, and encouraged them to keep up their efforts and to continue to strive for more achievements.
A total of 3,011 institutions and 1,424,000 college students nationwide participated in this year's "Challenge Cup" entrepreneurship competition, and 330,000 innovative projects were submitted. The BJUT project "Gelei Smart Image - the Internationally Leading and China's First Dual-Axis Laser Scanner", completed by Wang Zhiju and other students, and supervised by Jia Kebin, Wang Zixi and Yan Hai from the Faculty of Information Technology, won the Gold Award. The BJUT project "Liquid Metal Technology – High Precision Array Joint Pressure Transducers", completed by Zhao Shuo and other students and supervised by Liu Zhaomiao, Pang Yan and Wang Xiang from the Faculty of Materials and Manufacturing, won the Silver Award. The BJUT Projects "Super 'Base' Technology – the First High-temperature Superconductor Alloy Baseband in China", "Botu Smart Driving – a Vehicle-Infrastructure Cooperation Autonomous Driving System", "Eye of the Tunnel – an Intelligent Low Carbon Detection System for Subway Tunnels", "Winter Olympics on the Cloud – Building a Virtual Ice and Snow Park for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics with VR and MR Technologies", and "Car and Cloud Co-driving – Intelligent Transportation Risk Warning and Monitoring System" all won bronze awards.
Since 2012, BJUT students have won a total of five Gold Awards, four Silver Awards and eighteen Bronze Awards in the "Challenge Cup" entrepreneurship competitions. BJUT has claimed the "Champion Cup" twice, first in 2020 and now in 2023. The success of these projects puts the spirit and culture of innovation and self-improvement at BJUT on display.
