On March 23, Christoph Meinel, President and CEO of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) and member of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering, and his delegation visited BJUT.
Vice President Qiao Junfei warmly welcomed Dr. Meinel on his long-awaited visit to BJUT three years after the Covid and thanked him for his contributions to the University's training of talented individuals in the field of information technology over the years. Vice President Qiao noted that the "Internet Bridge" collaborative teaching program, which has been running fruitfully for 22 years, having trained many such exceptional individuals, becoming an essential link in the cooperation between the two institutions, as well as in China-Germany educational exchanges.
Vice President Qiao emphasized information technology's vital role in frontier fields such as carbon neutrality, clean energy, electric vehicles, fully automated vehicles, and digital health care. He stated that the University would continue to adhere to the development strategies of internationalization and digitalization and deepen its cooperation with HPI in academic research and talent training.
Dr. Meinel expressed his gratitude for BJUT's warm hospitality and reviewed the 22-year-long cooperation between HPI and BJUT. He pointed out that HPI is committed to conducting cutting-edge research and fostering high-end talents in information system engineering, data engineering, cybersecurity, digital health and artificial intelligence, and other fields. He also highlighted the solid and promising partnership between HPI and BJUT, which he hopes to strengthen through concrete collaboration in relevant fields. In this way, more high-level talents with international vision will be trained, and more outstanding contributions will be made to the cooperation between China and Europe in areas such as education, science and technology, environmental protection, and energy.
