The 2024 China Steel Construction Society Conference and the awards ceremony for the "CSCS Science and Technology Awards" were recently held. The project "Research and Application of Key Technologies for Fully-Bolted Prefabricated Steel Frame Prestressed Bracing Systems," led by Prof. Liu Xuechun from Prof. Zhang Ailin's team at BJUT, earned First Prize in the Science and Technology Progress Awards.
This award-winning project solves the key challenges in traditional steel frame structures, including their seismic energy dissipation by the plastic deformation, large residual deformation after the earthquake, difficulties in restoring functionality, the complexity of repair processes, a large demand for on-site welding work , and how to improve assembly efficiency. The project successfully achieves the goal of efficient energy dissipation during the earthquake and efficient repair of the structure after the earthquake.
The project has also revolutionized the traditional construction modes, and the structural system's components are standardized into modular units based on structural span and height. This innovation realizes the digital and intelligent production of the shop, as well as the modular and industrialized assembly on site. These advancements have been successfully applied in projects such as the Future Science City No. 2 Primary School in Beijing, the Changzhen Public Housing Project in Shenzhen, and the Liulihe Town Public Housing Project in Beijing.
