Ren Zhongyu was born in 1968. In 1987, he entered the Department of hydrogeology and engineering geology of Changchun Institute of geology, majoring in hydrogeology and engineering geology. In 1994, he graduated from the Department of hydrogeology and engineering geology with a master's degree. In September 2005, he joined China University of Geosciences (Beijing) for study, and in June 2008, he received his Ph.D. in environmental engineering.
In 2008, Ren Zhongyu joined Beijing University of technology, and now he is an associate professor of water resources and Water Engineering Research Institute, School of architecture and engineering, Beijing University of technology. Focusing on the research of groundwater pollution control, water environment restoration and water environment information system, he has completed the sub topic of Science and Technology Supporting Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology: ”Research on water quality monitoring and early warning system of water quality in the middle route of South to North Water Transfer”, and completed a sub project of National Water Pollution Control Program:”Research and demonstration of groundwater risk pollution source analysis technology in typical areas on two sides of the main canal of the middle route of South to North Water Transfer (2009ZX07212-003-03)” and ”Fine profile study on the migration and transformation of pollutants in groundwater system”,which was a subproject of program of ”research and demonstration of groundwater resource safety assessment and pollution prevention and control technology (D07050601510000)” supported by Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission. At the same time, as the main participant, he participated in some research projects from competitive market, such as "Research technologies of water quality assurance for renewable water use in Northwest eco-economic zone of Changchun City", "water quality assessment of water quality safety assurance system in Chaoyang District, Beijing".
