Personal statement
Wang Yushi, associate research fellow and master supervisor, has presided two National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and participated in four National Science and Technology Support programs. He has proposed a novel and more reliable intensity metric, modified Housner’s intensity, to characterize the destructive effects of ground motion, which was highly praised and was applied in China Digital Strong-Motion Network. His achievements in ground motion determination for Zipingpu and Dagangshan dams, Yangjiang and Hongyanhe nuclear power plants, benefitted their seismic analyses and designing, and economized more than ¥ fifty million.
