Personal statement
Yuyang Zhou received the Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and applied mathematics from Fudan University, Shanghai, China, in 2006 and the Ph.D. degree in operational research and cybernetics from Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, in 2011. She joined Beijing University of Technology, Beijing, China in 2011, where she has been an Associate Professor since 2017 with College of Metropolitan Transportation since June 2017 and the Deputy Head of the Department of Transportation Engineering since Dec. 2018. From November in 2017 to January in 2018, she was appointed as the Research Associate in Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her research interest includes transportation network optimization, data analysis, and public transit and urban freight system. She serves as the reviewer of more than 10 SCI journals. Dr. Zhou’s awards and honors include Chinese Mathematical Olympiad, the first prize (2001); Beijing Science and Technology Award, the third prize (2010); Beijing University of Technology the Most Popular Teacher Award (Finalist of 2015, 2016); the best paper award of the 17th COTA International Conference of Transportation Professionals (2017); China Intelligent Transportation Systems Association Science and Technology Award, the second prize (2018).
