Personal statement

An Quan-Fu, professor and doctoral supervisor, got his Ph.D. degree from Zhejiang University (ZJU) in 2005. He then worked as a postdoctoral research scholar in the Department of Chemical Engineering at ZJU from Mar. 2005 to Aug. 2007, and was promoted to associate professor in Jul. 2007 and professor in Dec. 2014, respectively. As a visiting research professor, he worked one year (from Apr. 2011 to Apr. 2012) at Center for Membrane and Technology in Chung Yuan Christian University. He moved to Beijing University of Technology in Jan. 2017.

Until now, he has presided five National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and published more than 160 SCI papers on international journals (3300 citations from others, H-index 36) and 42 issued patents. His research focuses on membrane science and technology. He has coined up a core concept of “ion pair” and applied for membrane fabrication, realizing high-performance membranes after a series of studies on membrane design, preparation, and separation mechanism. Moreover, he has established novel methods for preparing membranes embedded with ion pair structures, leading to molecular-scale water channels for rapid and selective transport of water molecules.
