Personal statement

Dr. Huixu Song, Associate Professor and Master Supervisor, is currently working in Precision Engineering Institute, College of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Beijing University of Technology. His main research fields include laser measurement technology, microscopic measurement technology, and instrument and bullet identification technology. In the related projects of laser measurement technology, a set of laser tracing measurement system is developed for calibrating NC equipment such as CMM. Combining the high precision of laser interferometer and the high efficiency of laser tracker, the system can measure and correct the geometric error of CMM quickly. Related results obtained the national scholarships for doctoral students and the outstanding graduates of Beijing University of Technology. In the project of precision measurement for micro-gear, a high precision measurement method of micro-module MIM gear based on white-light interferometer is proposed. The limitation of traditional vision measurement method in measurement accuracy is solved. The related achievements were awarded China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Progress Grand Prize. Furthermore, a point autofocus instrument is developed for measuring the whole surface of gear teeth. The related achievements were awarded Guangdong Science and Technology Progress First Prize. In 2019, he worked as a guest researcher in the surface metrology group of the National Institute of Standards and technology (NIST), engaged in the measurement of micro-topography for parts (Bullet identification technology). In 2021, he was funded by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) for the Young Elite Scientists Sponsorship Program.
