Personal Statement

Zaicheng Sun is a chemistry professor at Beijing University of Technology. He received his B. S. degree from Jilin University and his Ph. D degree from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, CAS in 1999. In 2001, he was named as the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow and worked for Phillips University of Marburg. After that, He joined in Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Mainz. Later, he worked for the University of Washington and Sandia National Labs in the USA. In 2010, he, as a candidate for the  "Hundred Talent" program, joined Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, CAS, China. After a 5-year career as a PI there, he accepted aprofessorshipat Beijing University of Technology in 2016. He had broad experience in polymer, nanomaterials, nanocomposites in the applications in energy, environment and nanomedicine research field. He obtained R&D 100 awards in 2010 on the thin film optical coating. As a guest editor for MRS BulletinMRS Advances, Chinese Journal of Luminescence though, he also has published 120 peer-reviewed papers, 2 book chapters and 13 Chinese patents and 2 US patents, with over 9,500 citations and an h-index of 47. Currently, his research interests focus on nanomaterials for energy, the environment and nanomedicine. Research topics:

1. Photo response Nanomaterials for clean energy, artificial photosynthesis and environmental remedy

2. Theragnostic-based fluorescent carbon dots by integrating diagnosis, therapy and bioimaging into one platform.
