Personal Statement

Zhang Dongyun, is a professor at Beijing University of Technology (BJUT). She got her bachelor and master degrees from the major of welding at Jinlin university in 1992 and 1995 respectively. And she got the doctor degree from mechanical manufacturing department at Rheinisch Westfaelische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH Aachen) in Germany in 2004. During her journey for doctor degree in Germany, she has participated and completed several large projects such as projects from German ministry of education and research (BMBF) and German Research Foundation (DFG), and for the first time she has achieved the parts from Aluminum Alloy directly fabricated by selective laser melting technology (SLM), which was firstly used in 2008 in Germany, and then has been widely applied in the field of aerospace and automotive manufacturing.

At present, her research fields are the application of SLM technology in medical, aerospace and other industrial. She has participated in and presided over more than 30 research projects, got three provincial awards, published more than 50 articles, more than 20 patents, and has a monograph in German, two translation works, a lecture book for graduate students, and co-author of two monographs in the field of Additive Manufacturing and Laser-Material processing technology. The postgraduate students under her supervision have won several awards at home and abroad respectively. She has won 3 awards on her researches on the design, manufacturing and tailoring of microstructure and mechanical properties of LPBF-fabricated metallic alloy in the application of aerospace in recent years.
