Personal statement

Rong Yaohua, associate professor, master tutor, received M.S. degree and Ph.D. degree in economics from the School of Statistics, Renmin University of China. She has long been engaged in research on non-parametric and semi-parametric statistical modeling, machine learning, educational statistics and economic statistics. She is also the director of the National Association for Teaching and Research in Industrial Statistics (national level society) and the director of Beijing Big Data Association. She studied with Ji ZHU, Yi LI and Xuming HE at the Department of Statistics and Department of Biostatistics, University of Michigan, U.S.A. from 2012 to 2013 as a joint doctoral student, and visited the Department of Statistics of Hong Kong Baptist University in 2011 under the supervision of Prof. Manlai Tang to conduct research on statistical inference of semi-parametric partially linear variable coefficient models. She was awarded the honorary title of Excellent Talent Young Backbone by the Organization Department of Beijing Municipal Committee and "Baiji Shenzhou Young Dissertation Award", etc. She has published more than 20 papers in international journals such as 《Journal of Applied Statistics》, 《Statistics and Its Interface》, 《Acta Mathematicae Applicatae Sinica》, 《Journal of the Korean Statistical Society》, and domestic authoritative journals such as 《China Higher Education Research》, 《Mathematical Statistics and Management》, and 《China Science and Technology Forum》, etc. She is an anonymous reviewer for core journals. She has chaired (or participated in) more than ten national and provincial level projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) surface project and youth project, the National Social Science Foundation of China (NSFC) youth project, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) National Key Project of Statistical Science Research, the Beijing Municipal Party Committee Organization Department Excellent Talent Youth Backbone Project, the Beijing Municipal Natural Science Foundation Project, the Ministry of Communications Open Project, and the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation First Class Grant. Among them, she has presided over 8 national and provincial projects as the person in charge.
