In recent years, the "platform economy" has rapidly developed, seeing a surge in the number of workers engaged in new forms of employment, such as couriers, food delivery drivers, and online ride-hailing drivers, who rely on such platforms. Because of this, the protection of such workers' rights faces numerous new situations and challenges. In order to better facilitate the decision-making of the CPC Beijing municipal committee and government, Prof. Tang Jun's team from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Beijing University of Technology undertook are search project titled "Study on the Employment and Social Security System in New Forms of Employment in Beijing", listed as part of the 2021 Beijing High-End Think Tank Research Project. The team, focusing on the current situation of new forms of employment in Beijing, analyzed the social security challenges faced by these workers, and proposed relevant suggestions to further improve the employment and social security system for them.

As a result of this think tank decision-making consultation project, the team's research project findings and recommendations have been adopted for the practical decision-making of the Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and the Social Work Committee of the Beijing Municipal Committee. Its general research report has provided research materials for the Xinhua News Agency's "Platform Enterprises and New Forms of Employment" research group, forming an internal reference report to provide feedback for the CPC Central Committee's decision-making authorities.
