Personal Statement
Liqiang Cao obtained his BSc degree in Civil Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University, China, in 2014, and his PhD in Tunneling and Underground Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University in 2020. He worked in Shenzhen University, China, as a postdoctoral research fellow from 2020 to 2022. He is now an associate professor in Institute of Geotechnical and Underground Engineering of Beijing University of Technology, China. He focuses on the urban underground and tunneling engineering. The specific research interests include: (1) ground movement and soil-structure interaction (SSI) due to tunneling/deep excavation; (2) resilience assessment and enhancement of underground structures; (3) machine/deep learning in excavation activities especially in shield tunneling in urban areas; and (4) performance evaluation and maintenance of urban tunnels.
