1. Software Engineering (Sino-foreign joint program)

Objective: The major is committed to cultivating interdisciplinary talents of high-level with international vision who have a good command of professional knowledge and international rules, and can participate in international affairs and competition for Chinas software engineering. Supported by the "National Demonstrative Software Institute" of BJUT and software engineering major of UCD, the major combines complementary advantages in talent cultivation of both universities in the field of software engineering to promote the internationalization of the cultivation.

The major would strengthen  students theoretical foundation in the field of software engineering, impart advanced professional knowledge and and train the skills to solve practical problems.. Students will be taught a sound knowledge of computer science, a solid foundation in programming and software development, excellent software engineering skills, the ability to critically analyze problems, and concrete solutions for software applications, computers and communication facilities.

Curriculum:

Teaching forms of the major include class lectures, experimental operations, tutorial guidance, seminars and project assignments. The major focuses on consolidating mathematical foundations and basic computer theoretical knowledge in the first year. Computer programming and knowledge related to computer science are introduced in the second year. Core courses in software development and software engineering technology are offered in the third and fourth years.

The programme covers a wide range of technologies, which can help students lay a solid foundation for computer programming and software engineering technology. During the learning process, students will be trained to use multiple programming methods and languages. Along with a solid grasp of mathematics and computer science theory, students also learn the most advanced techniques in software engineering. In addition to courses in software programming, databases, information systems, operating systems, etc., courses in the form of experiments and thematic assignments focus on the development of practical problem-solving skills.

2. The Internet of Things Engineering (Sino-foreign joint program)

Objective: The major of The Internet of Things Project is multifaceted for the computer industry in terms of demand for the development of national strategic emerging industries. It is committed to cultivating professionals for construction, application, maintenance and management of Internet of Things (IoT), and especially professionals in related network structures and communication protocols, software architecture and middleware, computing platforms, application development, projects in service design and development. The major engages students to become senior engineer and technical talents oriented towards innovation and application. With international perspective and competitiveness, they can adapt to the economic development and meet the needs of economic structure, serving national strategic emerging industries.

This program will provide students with a sound knowledge of electrical engineering and computer science, a solid foundation in wireless communications and computer networks, building an integrated knowledge system of IoT equipment, systems, networks and infrastructure and improve their skills in network design and planning of network of IoT sensors.

Objective: The major is jointly run by BJUT and UCD. UCD Smurfit Business School is Ireland’s leading business school. Students can enjoy the high-quality education and teaching resources of both universities.

Under the background of global economic integration and ever-deepening reforms of China's economy and finance, the major aims to cultivate interdisciplinary talents with extensive literacy of social sciences in the financial field who can adapt to the needs of modern social economic and financial development. Familiar with quantitative analysis skills and professional knowledge of currency, finance, credit, banking, securities and financial markets, they master basic theoretical knowledge such as modern economics and finance and have a good command of frontier theories and development of the subject. They excellent abilities of English expression, interpersonal communication, teamwork and computer application.

In order to step up students' study in professional theory and deepen their understanding of global economic activities and financial markets, the major integrates core courses in the financial field based on traditional economics to help students have a solid foundation of economic theory and cutting-edge financial skills in quantitative analysis. After completing their studies, students can meet the requirements of domestic and foreign financial institutions, government departments and non-financial enterprises and public institutions to interdisciplinary financial talents of high quality. Curriculum:

The major is a four-year undergraduate program adopting an "advanced cultivation model", that is, to define staged cultivation goals and academic standards for each academic year to help students reasonably plan their learning processes. On professional training, UCD is responsible for teaching content arrangement and quality monitoring. UCD and BJUT select high-level teachers to participate in teaching and about 70% of professional courses would be taught by UCD selected teachers. The programme is aimed at making students to master the professional knowledge in the field of electronic information with the creative thinking and solve the modern circuit design, signal and information processing field actual problem. Students will be an international perspective and competitiveness of innovative senior technical talent.

The programme covers all kinds of hardware and software in electronic information engineering technology related knowledge, including: electronic circuits, digital logic, communication theory, integrated circuit design, computer programming and electromagnetics, help students to master all kinds of signals and information in real life (such as voice, text, images, remote sensing, etc.) in the processing and exchange of technology, use of cable or wireless transmission way and the basic principle of detecting signal, and the invention of electronic science and technology products and services advanced production life of practical skills.

Graduates will work in artificial intelligence, mobile communications, aerospace, integrated chips and other fields.
