1.Law

Objective: When comprehensively advancing the rule of law in China, we provide students with a strong foundation of fundamental theories of law concerning fields such as property rights, finance, and social governance. We aim to develop future practical and inter-disciplinary legal talents that are skilled at legal practice; in compliance with legal professional ethics; rich in knowledge; endowed with wide visions; socially flexible; remarkable in work.

Curriculum:

Core Courses: Jurisprudence, Legal History of China, Constitution, Administrative Law and Administrative Procedure Law, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Civil Law, Intellectual Property Law, Commercial Law, Economic Law, Civil Procedure Law, Environmental Law and Resources Protection Law, Labor Law and Social Security, International Law, Private International Law, International Economic Law, Science and Technology Law, Company Law, Securities Law, Contract Law, Tax Law, Insurance Law, Marriage and Succession Laws, lawyers, Rules of Evidence, Legal Logic, and Legal Writing. To enrich students' knowledge and develop their professionalism, we have established three teaching modules: intellectual property law, economic law, and social law. Also, we offer optional courses such as Sociology, Economics, Finance, Management, Intellectual Property Management, Accounting, Community Corrections, and Criminology. To improve students' professionalism in operation and social adaptation, we have 1100 credit hours of practical courses in place such as moot courts, case analysis, seminars, mid-term internships, graduate internships, trial observation, and research visits.

Career: Studentscanengage inlegal work at all level administrative agencies, judicial agencies, law firms, banks, securities companies, insurance companies, intellectual property agents, social enterprises, and legal departments; or they may choose to pursue further studies, going after a master’s degree of law of other subjects. In recent years, about a quarter of graduates chose to pursue further studies in Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Taiwan University, and other renowned universities at home and abroad. The pass rate for the judicial examination and the civil service examination reaches 45%, which promises a higher employment rate and better employment as well as a broad prospect for development.

2.Social Work

Objective:The majoris committed tocultivating application-oriented social work professional who possess good humanistic qualities, strong sense of social responsibility, and follow professional ethics. Students can master the solid knowledge of social work and psychological theories, and have the ability of are social work study, communication, and social work comprehensive practice.

Curriculum:

Core Courses: Introduction to Social Work, Case Work, Group Work, Community Work, Human Behavior and Social Environment, Management and Administration in Social Work, Introduction to Social Policy, NGO Project Management and Operation, Social Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, Foreign Sociological Theories, Social Survey and Research Methods, Social Statistics, and Data Analysis and SPSS Software Application.

Featured Courses: Youth and Social Services, Elderly and Social Work, Personality Psychology, Theory and Practice of Psychological Counseling, Evaluating Social Services, Qualitative Research, and Social Work Internship. The social work training program has been carried out for 6 consecutive years, including activities such as community sketch, family therapy, sand table game therapy, music to reduce stress, emotional intelligence enhancement training, and social journey to improve students' professionalism and comprehensive quality. The scientific achievements made by students during internship and practice have won many prizes in provincial and ministerial competitions and many papers were published in CSSCI.

Career: Studentscanengage inwork in government agencies at all levels, public institutions, state-owned enterprises, foreign-funded enterprises, social security agencies, medical institutions, educational institutions, and social organizations. The major has the highest employment rate in the school. Students can also choose to pursue a master's degree in social work, sociology, or psychology. Some students have been admitted to domestic and international top universities such as Yeshiva University, New York University, the University of Manchester, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, Wuhan University, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The rate of graduates going abroad and taking the postgraduate admission examination is above 40%.

3. Sociology

Objective:The majoris committed tocultivating talents who meet the economic and social development in Beijing and China, have a strong sense of social responsibility and a spirit of social service. Students can master the solid knowledge in sociological theories, social surveys, social statistics methods as well as much social practice and investigation opportunities , have the ability of observing and analyzing social issues. We expect them to be high-quality managers and sociologists who can independently carry out the investigation or consulting work.

Curriculum:

Core Courses: Introduction to Sociology, Foreign Sociological Theories, History of Chinese and Foreign Social Thoughts, Social Research Methods, Social Statistics, Data Analysis Techniques, Social Psychology, Urban and Rural Sociology, and Sociology of Development.

Featured Courses: Frontiers in Sociology, Introduction to Social Construction, Social Management, Social Project Evaluation, Sociology of Consumption, Economic Sociology, Sociology of Communication, Introduction to Community, and Public Opinion Survey. To distinguish the programs, we have 1100 credit hours of practical courses in place to enhance students’ professionalism in practice and social adaptability.

Career: Students can engage in social management, social investigation and research, policy analysis and evaluation, social planning and management in Party and government offices, companies, public institutions, and scientific research institutions, or market research and consulting in news media and various research and consulting firms. Also, they can pursue a master's degree in sociology or other subjects. The employment situation is good, and thirty percent of students have been recommended (for admission) or admitted to renowned universities such as Peking University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, Fudan University and Beijing University of Technology for further studies. About 20% of students have gone abroad for graduate studies and others are employed by Party and government offices, companies and public institutions. With a strong foundation of basic theories and professional methods along with good cultural education, our students are highly valued by their employers.

4.English

Objective: The majoris committed tocultivatinginter-disciplinary talents who have a solid essential skills of English as well as applicable theories in economics and management,grasp the characteristics of business activities, and have a deep understanding of specific fields of business practices. Through four years of study, we aim to develop professional English talents who are highly qualified and well-rounded, fulfilling the needs of national development and reform and opening up. They should be both advanced in English and good at French to serve foreign trade, affairs, or provide the translation. Under globalization of both knowledge and economy as well as demand for inter-disciplinary talents in the 21st century, we highlight the training on students' innovation ability and overall performance. We require students to be proficient at using English, familiar with basic business theories, and capable of business practices. They should be able to employ various skills effectively to quickly adapt to the rapid development of society and develop an independent global awareness.

Core Courses: Essential English, Philosophy and Civilization, English Vocabulary and Culture, English Reading, English Listening, English Writing, Oral English, Advanced English, Translation Theory and Practice, English-Chinese Interpretation, and Academic Paper Writing.

Featured Courses: Principles of Economics, Essential Business Studies, Overview of English-speaking Countries, Professional English Reading, Analytical Listening, Listening and Interpretation, Selected Readings of British and American Literature, Introduction to Linguistics, Second Language, Intercultural Communication, Business Negotiations, and Pragmatic Translation.

Career: A wide range of programs enables students to engage in business management practice in transnational corporations, as well as cctranslation, teaching, management or research in deparmentsc dealing with foreign affairs, economy, trade, culture and education. Also, the study will lay a strong and broad foundation for further studies abroad.
