On March 11th, President Changez Dil Khan and Vice President Abdul Ghafoor of the Fauji Foundation University (Islamabad) of Pakistan, visited Beijing University of Technology (BJUT). President and Deputy Secretary of the BJUT party committee, Liu Gonghui, Vice-President Wu Bin, met with the delegation accompanied by the heads of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation Office and Human Resources.
President Liu welcomed President Khan and his delegation, gave an introduction to BJUT, talked about Pakistani students studying at the university and the Belt and Road Initiative China-Poland university alliance. He emphasized the deep friendship between China and Pakistan which had been beneficial to exchange and cooperation between universities of the two countries. President Liu expressed the hope that the two universities would carry out multi-level and pragmatic short and long term student and academic exchange as well as conducting joint scientific research. He proposed that the two universities learn from the cooperation model of the China-Poland University Alliance by promoting exchange and cooperation between Chinese and Pakistani universities. President Liu also invited the Fauji Foundation University to participate in the first Belt and Road Initiative international academic conference, to ben hosted by BJUT.
President Khan expressed his gratitude to BJUT for the warm reception and introduced theFauji Foundation University (Islamabad) of Pakistan. He said that the two universities had many similarities in programme areas. He expressed the hope that the two universities would strengthen cooperation in engineering, business and other fields. President Khan expressed willingness to cooperate with BJUT on a summer camp, cooperative education, joint research and other fields under the Belt and Road framework.
The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding. During the visit, the delegation was introduced to BJUT post-doctoral policies and held discussions with the Faculty of Information, the International School, the School of Economics and Management and the Faculty of Liberal Arts. The delegation conducted in-depth discussions on the foreign student training and the direction of future cooperation.
The Fauji Foundation is one of the largest conglomerates in Pakistan. Principle areas of business include health care, educational funding, vocational and technical training, oil and gas exploration, marine terminals, food processing and banking services. The Fauji Foundation has 185 educational institutions in Pakistan, including one university, two colleges, 10 technical training centers, 66 vocational training centers and 106 primary and secondary schools. Fauji Foundation University (Islamabad) is a subsidiary of the Fauji Foundation and currently has two campuses in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The Fauji Foundation University (Islamabad) has more than 480 faculty members and more than 5,700 students. Schools include Engineering and Information Technology, Arts and Social Sciences, Management, Medicine, Dentistry and the Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences.
