In accordance with the Opinions on Further Improving the Patent Quality of Universities in Beijing and Accelerating the Transfer and Transformation of Scientific and Technological Achievements (hereinafter referred to as “the Opinions”) issued by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, after experts’ evaluation and other procedures, BJUT was officially allowed to build a Promotion Center for Transfer and Transformation of Technological Achievements in Universities, one of the first three universities to receive the approval.
It clearly defines that, with the goal of facilitating the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements to serve economic and social development with high quality, it is necessary to improve the whole-process management system of intellectual property in universities, further discover more high-level research results, develop more high-quality patents and offer more high-standard service concerned. Furthermore, it also claims to build many promotion centers for transfer and transformation of technological achievements in universities, and cultivate a crop of high-standard professionals for technology transfer.
BJUT puts a high value on the transfer and transformation of technological achievements. The university established the Technology Transfer Center in 2018 as the special institutions and set out the Construction Plan of BJUT On Promoting the Transfer and Transformation of Scientific and Technological Achievements of Universities in Beijing in combination with its own practice. In conformity with the Plan, internally, BJUT will gradually establish a market-oriented operation mechanism to transfer and convert scientific and technological findings, improve intellectual property management and patent application and evaluation system, and enhance the training of professional technology transfer talents. Externally, the university will establish a platform for the industrialization of technological results, provide high-end services for transfer and transformation of technological achievements, and strengthen cooperation with the Program of “Three Cities and One District” in Beijing.
