On August 24th, Beijing University of Technology held a work conference to draw up the agenda for the new semester.
Jiang Zeting, Secretary of the CPC BJUT committee, stressed that this year is crucial for BJUT to fully implement its14th Five-Year Plan and start the second phase ofthe University's“Three-Step Strategy" towards becoming a world-class university. Against this background, focus should be placed on top-level design and overall planning while ensuring the effective implementation of all detailed works. This calls for a sense of unity and mission among all BJUTers to promote the University's high-quality development in the new era.
Nie Zuoren, President of BJUT reviewed and summarized the endeavours made in the first half of the year and the important work completed during the summer vacation. President Nie pointed out that BJUT is always committed to the fundamental task of fostering students' character and civic virtue and further progress in its comprehensive reforms. Through these efforts, BJUT continuously serves the needs of the capital city, and plays a more active part in the development of Beijing into a center of national politics, culture, international exchange, and science and technology innovation (known as "The Four Centers"). He added that constant efforts have been made to enhance the sense of happiness and security of all faculty members and students. President Nie also highlighted ten priorities for this new semester.
At the end of the conference, it was emphasized that BJUTers should firmly grasp the strategic opportunities arising from the development of Beijing in the new era and take the lead in serving the development of the capital. The University will strive to not only become a leading high-level research university among municipal institutes of higher education, but also pursue a new path to build itself into a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.
