On May 30th, the 2023 "Challenge Cup" College Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest of the Capital City came to an end. Student projects from Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) received 6 grand prizes, 11 first prizes, 16 second prizes, and 22 third prizes, ultimately winning the Contest's "Champion Cup".
The project titled "One turning conjures a bridge - Research on the Key Technology of the Construction of Super Large-Tonnage Rotary Bridges" won a special prize in the main competition, which guided by Professor Zhang Wenxue from the Faculty of Architecture, Civil and Transportation Engineering, completed by students Guo Ruonan, Zhang Mengqi and others. Aiming at the common pain points in the construction of long-span, large tonnage and multi T-structure rotary bridges, three innovative technologies have been researched and developed, which were modular assembled swivel-spherical-joint, multi-point joint unbalanced weighing and rotary safety monitoring based on the pseudo dynamic superposition principle. These innovations optimize and inject a vital new approach into the construction of comprehensive urban transportation networks through the improvement of rotary bridge technology.
In recent years, the University has tightly integrated talent cultivation targets with the characteristics of a number of the University's disciplines and majors, attaching great importance to fostering students' innovative and entrepreneurial abilities. Through the establishment of a student extracurricular scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurship work system based on "Funding-Competition-Practice", BJUT has been actively focusing on major national demands and engaging in practical scientific and technological projects.
