On July 29^th, at the "Symposium for Beijing Scientific and Technical Worker Commemorating the 60^th Anniversary of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology", the inaugural list of "Beijing Municipal Outstanding Scientific and Technical Worker" was announced. Peng Yongzhen and Du Xiuli, members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professors at Beijing University of Technology, were among those honored.

The "Beijing Municipal Outstanding Scientific and Technical Worker" awards list commends outstanding scientific and technical workers for their patriotic dedication, outstanding achievements, and significant contributions to the capital city's economic and social development. No more than 30 individuals are honored with this award. Sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Government and organized by the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, the selection occurs once every three years.
