On January 10, Nature Water, an internationally renowned high-level journal, published the latest research findings by the team led by Academician Peng Yongzhen from Beijing University of Technology (BJUT). The paper, titled Floc management enables integrated anammox and enhanced biological phosphorus removal for sustainable ultra-efficient nutrient removal, marks a significant breakthrough in the field of applied basic research on sustainable urban wastewater treatment achieved by the National Engineering Laboratory for Advanced Municipal Wastewater Treatment and Reuse Technology at the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, BJUT. BJUT is the sole contributor to this research, with PhD student Dan Qiongpeng from the College of Environmental Science and Engineering as the sole first author, and Academician Peng Yongzhen as the sole corresponding author.
Nature Water is an internationally recognized journal within the Nature series, focusing on water science. It holds significant influence in the field of the natural sciences and leads the way in global water science research.

Dan Qiongpeng is a PhD student from the 2021 cohort at BJUT, under the supervision of Academician Peng Yongzhen. His research focuses on water pollution control and resource utilization technologies.

Peng Yongzhen is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, professor at the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, BJUT, an expert in environmental engineering and wastewater treatment, Doctor of Engineering and director of the "National Engineering Laboratory for Advanced Municipal Wastewater Treatment and Reuse Technology." He has received numerous honors, including "National Model Teacher," "National Outstanding Teacher," "National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker," "National Labor Model," and "Beijing People's Teacher," as well as awards such as the State Science and Technology Progress Award, State Technology Invention Award, and Ho Leung Ho Lee Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
