Applied Physics

Objective:

To meet the needs of modern innovation-led economic and social construction and the development of optoelectronic information technology, this program intends to cultivate interdisciplinary applied talents and research talents with humanistic quality, scientific literacy and social responsibility. The talents should have good mathematical foundation, solid theoretical basics of Physics, professional foundation and experimental skills of Applied Physics (featured Optoelectronic Technology). The talents should be equipped with good foreign language ability and computer application ability, as well as the sense of innovation and experimental development ability, independent knowledge acquisition ability, communication and organization management ability.

Curriculum:

Basic courses: General Physics, Optics, Theoretical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics, Circuit and Electronic Technology, Digital Electronic Technology, Laser Principles, Solid State Physics, and Fundamentals for C Programming

Required specialized courses: Information Optics, Crystal Optics, Computer Principles and Interfaces, Communication Principles, Principles for Optical Fiber Communications, Optoelectronics, Computational Physics, and etc.

Optional specialized courses (2-3 courses): Sensor Principles and Applications, Nano Opticsand Technology, Principles and Applications of Single Chip Microcomputer, Data Communication Network, Optical Fiber Communication Network, Atomic Physics, Introduction to Modern Physics, Photoelectric Films and Devices, Physical Testing Technology, etc.

Practical training courses: General Physics Experiments, Modern Physics Experiments, Mechanical Engineering Training, Computer Principles and Interface Experiments, Electrical and Electronic Basic Training, Professional Physics Experiments, Optical Communication Technology Design, Fundamentals for Applied Physics Project Design, Innovative Practice and Graduation Design, and etc.

Career:

Graduates of this program can start a career in the research and development of products or technologies in the fields of communications, computer science and technology, laser technology and engineering, optical or optoelectronic equipment, and etc., as well as the research and development work, computer software programming, science and technology information management in research institutes.
