Beijing Lab of Smart Environmental Protection, the first BJUT-led Beijing Laboratory, was approved by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission. At the same time, the affirmed facilities are accompanied by Beijing Lab of Integrated Circuit Science and Future Technology applied by Peking University in collaboration with BJUT, and Beijing Lab of Environmental Frontier Technology applied by Tsinghua University in tandem with BJUT.
Beijing Lab of Smart Environmental Protectionis led by BJUT alongside Beijing Technology and Business University as well as Beijing Ecological and Environmental Monitoring Center. The laboratory director is Professor QIAO Junfei. With the support of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, the lab will place strategic bets one cological civilization and focus on the key tasks of prevention and control to ensure "Sky Blue, Water Clear and Land Pure" and the major needs of energy conservation and environmental protection. These goals will be realized by studying the basic AI theory and methods in intelligent perception, knowledge mining, automatic control, and multi-objective dynamic optimization, and then developing new technologies of environmental intelligent monitoring and intelligent environmental protection. In this way, the lab strives to lead the technological transformation of the environmental industry.
The construction of Beijing labs was started by Beijing Municipal Education Commission in 2017. The overall goal is to serve the needs of economic and social development by enhancing innovation among the universities in Beijing. The purpose is to guide and support the innovation-driven development strategy while the focus is on the national objectives and strategic needs with the aim of the shape of scientific frontier and key fields.
Up to now, BJUT has an approved BJUT-led Beijing Lab, namely Beijing Lab of Smart Environmental Protection; six co-built Beijing labs, including Beijing Lab of New Energy Vehicles in cooperation with Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Lab of Metal Materials and Its Processing Technology for Modern Transportation which is collaborated with University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing Lab of Urban Rail Transit which is co-constructed in Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing Lab of Advanced Information Network in tandem with Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing Lab of Integrated Circuit Science and Future Technology in collaboration with Peking University, and Beijing Lab of Environmental Frontier Technology in cooperation with Tsinghua University.
