On April 7, BJUT held the opening ceremony for the Promotion Conference on the Transformation of Science and Technology Achievements, and the Campus Open Day.
The event was attended by You Jun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing CPC Committee and the Secretary of the Working Committee of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, various Beijing Municipal departments and bureaus, districts, research institutions, and social groups. Additionally, heads of central state-owned, city-owned, and private enterpriseswere present, along with BJUT administrators, academicians, faculty members and student representatives.
You Jun acknowledged BJUT's academic achievements and contributions to the economic and social development of the country and the capital city. He emphasized the need for BJUT to further explore innovation systems and mechanisms and promote the coordinated development of education, innovation in science and technology, and talent training.
He hoped that BJUT would fully utilize its leading role in basic research for China's greater self-reliance and in science and technology. He also hoped that the University would accelerate its development as a high-level research university and deepen its contribution to Beijing's development as a global science and technology innovation hub.
Jiang Zeting, on behalf of the faculty and students of BJUT, extended a sincere welcome and heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished guests in attendance. He hoped that through this new platform of Promotion Conference, BJUT researchers would be able to collaborate with enterprises to create new achievements in key and core technologies, resulting in a series of new patents, this collaboration leading to win-win outcomes and a shared, bright future.
Nie Zuoren stated that in recent years, BJUT has striven to build itself into a top-tier university rooted in Beijing and embodying the capital city's distinctive characteristics and that it has been serving Beijing's "four centers" strategy with the strong support of government and enterprises at all levels.
He added that as the next step, BJUT would continue to implement the national strategies of invigorating China through science and education, building a solid talent pool, and implementing innovation-driven development, thus further contributing to the construction of Beijing as a global science and technology innovation hub.

BJUT's Plan for Serving the Development of Beijing as a Global Science and Technology Innovation Hub was released at the ceremony. In addition, eight enterprises announced their lists of technological breakthroughs, which BJUT's science and technology researchers on the spot.
After the ceremony, the guests visited BJUT's science and technology, employment, admissions, and culture sections of the Campus Open Day.
In the science and technology section, the University conducted roadshows on six main themes: advanced materials, high-end equipment, artificial intelligence, life and health, urban development, and environment and energy, showcasing the University's cutting-edge technological achievements in these fields.
In the admissions section, prospective students and their parents had an immersive experience of the BJUT campus while the director of admissions explained the University's admissions policies for 2023.
In the culture section, the 13th BJUT Culture Festival and Culture & Sports Carnival kicked off wonderfully. It was announced that more than 100 art, culture, and sports events would take place soon.
