Objective:

The major is committed to cultivating inter-disciplinary talents who have a solid essential skills of English as well as applicable theories in economics and management, grasp the characteristics of business activities, and have a deep understanding of specific fields of business practices. Through four years of study, we aim to develop professional English talents who are highly qualified and well-rounded, fulfilling the needs of national development and reform and opening up. They should be both advanced in English and good at French to serve foreign trade, affairs, or provide the translation. Under globalization of both knowledge and economy as well as demand for inter-disciplinary talents in the 21st century, we highlight the training on students' innovation ability and overall performance. We require students to be proficient at using English, familiar with basic business theories, and capable of business practices. They should be able to employ various skills effectively to quickly adapt to the rapid development of society and develop an independent global awareness.

Curriculum:

Core Courses: Essential English, Philosophy and Civilization, English Vocabulary and Culture, English Reading, English Listening, English Writing, Oral English, Advanced English, Translation Theory and Practice, English-Chinese Interpretation, and Academic Paper Writing.

Featured Courses: Principles of Economics, Essential Business Studies, Overview of English-speaking Countries, Professional English Reading, Analytical Listening, Listening and Interpretation, Selected Readings of British and American Literature, Introduction to Linguistics, Second Language, Intercultural Communication, Business Negotiations, and Pragmatic Translation.

Career:

A wide range of programs enables students to engage in business management practice in transnational corporations, as well as translation, teaching, management or research in deparments dealing with foreign affairs, economy, trade, culture and education. Also, the study will lay a strong and broad foundation for further studies abroad.
