Materials Engineering (Professional Master's degree of Engineering)


Objective:Through the study and practice of basic theory and skills in the field of Materials Engineering, students are supposed to be familiar with the knowledge and technology of material engineering, environment-friendly and harmonious development, to master the basic theory, expertise and management knowledge in Materials Engineering. They strive to be application-oriented, interdisciplinary high-level engineering technicians and engineering management talents. They will be able to solve practical engineering problems during production, formulation, process, modification, strengthening, surface protection and recycling of structural materials and functional materials.

Professional courses: Thermodynamics and Dynamics of Material, Foreign Language for Material Engineering, Life Cycle and Eco-Materials Assessment, Modern Analytical Methods and Applications for Materials, Theoretical and Technical Basis of Strengthening of Materials.

Engineering courses: Surface Engineering, Functional Material and Potential Application of Metal, Nanomaterials and Its Preparation Technology, Physical Properties and Testing Technology of Materials, New Preparation Technology For Materials, Semiconductor Material and Its Technology, Electronic Ceramic Material and Technology, Basis of Material Forming Engineering, Material Welding and Joining, Powder Metallurgy Technology, Lead-Free Joining Material and Its Packaging Technology, Advanced Manufacturing Preparation Technology of Cement and Basis of Plastic Deformation of Metals.

Career:Graduates of full-time master of engineering can work in enterprises, government-affiliated institutions, foreign-funded enterprises and listed companies in China and Beijing. Graduates from this major can be engaged in industrial planning, technological development, engineering and equipment design, cleaner production assessment and consultation in the R&D of new materials, advanced materials processing technology, performance evaluation and application, eco-materials and environmental life-cycle assessment, eco-friendly building materials and energy-saving technology in buildings. They can also start their career in scientific research in national materials research institutes.
