Materials Scienceand Engineering (Including Honors Class)

Objective:

Aims to cultivate interdisciplinary engineering talents with the concept of harmonious development of materials and environment, the literacyof humanities and social sciences,t horough knowledge basis of natural science, engineering and professional knowledge of Materials Science and Engineering, the awareness of lifelong learning and the ability to expand their own knowledge. The students will be with the spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship, global vision and capabilities ins ocial communication and organizational management.

Curriculum:

During the first two years, students are supposed to learn Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Language, English and another required basic knowledge. Through the study of the Introduction to Materials Science and Engineering, students can understand the overall curriculum framework of the material. Then, through the study of theFundamentals of Material Science, Material Engineering, Material Performance, Material Analysis Methods and the Fundamentals of Eco-Materials, students can learn the basics of material science.

During selected courses, based on the formers ystematic study of the basic knowledge of the materials, students choose the professional courses in modules: Metal Materials, Inorganic Materials and Material Processing. In addition, each module will develop self-study courses according to its characteristics to cultivate students'self-study ability. Each module will also offer related experiment courses so that students can select topics independently and complete the material production, testing and evaluation after learning all courses of the module, so as to connect the basic knowledge they have learned with the professional knowledge, complete the comprehensive process from experiment design, sample preparation, outcome evaluation and enhance their practical abilities when learning theoretical analysis.

Career:

Undergraduates can be engaged in the production, processing and trade of materials and related fields, including construction, automobile manufacturing, electromechanical, metallurgy, electronics, pharmaceutical, high-tech enterprises and their management departments, for technology development, process and equipment design, new material research, production technology management, quality testing of materials and material imports.
