Civil Engineering


This program meets the needs of the city and engineering construction of the country (focusing on the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region), aims to cultivate the comprehensive-development and compound-engineering-innovation talents with broad basic knowledge, good humanistic quality, strong engineering practice and sustainable learning ability and international vision, and lay the foundation for the cultivation of industry innovation leaders. After the basic training of engineering practice and innovation ability, the graduates have the ability to comprehensively use the knowledge they have learned to carry out civil engineering design, construction, management and technical development, have the preliminary scientific research ability, have better organization and management, environmental adaptation, communication and team cooperation ability, and can be engaged in project planning, engineering design, technology development, construction and management of civil engineering, to have strong practical and innovation ability, global visions, team values and good communication skills. About five years after graduation, graduates can have the ability to become middle professional technical fellows or technical directors.


Basic courses include Natural Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Foreign Languages and Computer Applications. Specialized courses include Civil Engineering Materials, Material Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, Surveying, Housing Architecture, Load and Structure Design Methods, Soil Mechanics, Underground Engineering, Principles of Concrete Structures, Principles of Steel Structures, Civil Engineering Construction, Understructure Design,SubgradeEngineering, Road Survey and Design, Bridge Engineering, Seismic Design of Buildings, High-Rise Building Structures, Planning and Design for Urban Rail Engineering, Project Budget, Construction Project Management, etc.


After graduation, in addition to studying as postgraduate students or going abroad for further studies, the graduates can be employed in the technical and management institutes of engineering planning, survey, design, construction and others in the fields of construction engineering, underground construction engineering, road and bridge engineering, urban rail engineering. Besides those, they can be employed in the relevant management sections of the government in all levels. They canalsobe employed in various institutions of financial investment, engineering construction and development, construction supervision, engineering insurance and engineering consultation. The graduates can also be engaged in engineering investment management, planning, design, survey, scientific research, construction technology development, construction management, engineering inspection, engineering quality assessment, construction supervision, professional education of engineering, engineering insurance, public utility management, etc.
