Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering

Objectives:

To meet the demands for the economic and social development of the country, especially the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, this major is oriented towards healthy, comfortable, energy saving and safe building environment, and cultivate high-quality innovative person with persistent faith, good moral character, broad foundation, profound specialty, broad vision, outstanding practical ability and strong ability of sustainable development. Graduates can be engaged in planning and design, research and development manufacturing, construction installation, operation management and system support and other technical or management positions that about heating, ventilation, air conditioning, purification, cooling and heating sources, heating, renewable energy utilization, intelligent building, etc. in the design and research, engineering construction, equipment manufacturing, operation management, technical consulting and other enterprises and institutions.

Curriculum:

The elementary course include Natural Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Foreign Languages and Computer Applications and so on. The basic courses of the subject include Mechanical Design Fundamentals, Engineering Graphics, Electrical and Electronics, Fundamentals of Automatic Control, Automation of Construction Equipment System, Theoretical Mechanics, Material Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Pipe Network for Fluid Supply, Heat Transfer, Engineering Thermodynamics, Principles and Equipment of Heat and Mass Exchange, Building Environment, Introduction to Architecture; professional courses consists of theoretical courses including Air Conditioning, Heat Supply Engineering, Ventilation Engineering, Refrigeration Technology, HVAC Technology, Electrical Control and Microcomputer Application in Buildings, Building Equipment Automation, Solar Energy Utilization and Building Energy Conservation, etc.

Career:

The graduates of this major will be mainly engaged in the field of green building and building energy conservation and emission reduction, involving the design, development and operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, gas transmission and distribution projects. Except postgraduate study or further study abroad, graduates can work in design companies and engaged in the design work, including the regional power system of industrial and civil construction, HAVC system, building automatic control system, the indoor water supply and drainage system and fire control system, as well as the building energy efficiency evaluation and diagnosis work. They can also work in the planning, research and development, design, construction, consulting and operation management of large-scale refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, building intelligent control projects and distributed energy supply systems in building energy conservation consulting company, real estate development company, construction enterprise and property management company and so on.
