Transportation Equipment and Control Engineering (Honors Class)

Objectives:

To meet the intelligent development of modern traffic and transportation, the major in Traffic Equipment and Control Engineering featuring “transportation engineering + intelligent information” aims to cultivate future inter-disciplinary creative graduates who are excelling in all aspects including ethics, intellect, physique, aesthetic and labor; possessing a wealth of cultural and scientific knowledge as well as social responsibility awareness; skilled at engineering application and innovative practice; systematically mastering transportation engineering theories and other applicable information and intelligence theories, expertise, engineering technique, and innovation methods; appreciating global visions and teamwork; and pursuing the lifelong learning. Graduates have career choices in the intelligent transportation industry as described for hardware and software development, system integration, information processing, management and control, traffic planning and design. And they should be able to solve modern transportation issues using applicable theories and methods of transportation engineering and intelligent information.When the students graduate around five years, they should have the ability to be responsible for the technical or management work of professional projects.

Curriculum:

The public basic courses mainly include Advanced Mathematics, Linear Algebra,Probabilityand Mathematical Statistics, College Physics, College English, C Language Programming Foundation, etc.

The professional courses are taught by full-time teachers from the College of Metropolitan Transportation. The teaching resources are fully utilized including the support from the relevant disciplines, Top experts in the field of Transportation Engineering, and high-level talents. Discipline basic required courses include Engineering Graphics, Engineering Mechanics, Introduction to Transportation Engineering (bilingual, national excellence course), Operations Research, Data Structures and Algorithm Analysis, Traffic Investigation and Analysis,The Fundamental of Electronic Technologies for Transportation, Transportation Engineering Design, Foundations of Traffic Information and Control Technology, Machine Learning, The Fundamental of Communication Technologies for Transportation and Transportation Planning.

Required courses in practice include Mechanical Engineering Training, Physics Experiment, Practice for Engineering Graphics, Theory and Application of Engineering Innovation Methods, Transportation Software Training, The Project Practice of Traffic Information and Control, Cognition Practice, Work Practice, Graduation Project, etc. Discipline-based elective courses include Traffic Management and Control, Intelligent and Connected Vehicles technology, Automatic Control Theory, Traffic Flow Theory, Traffic Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, Traffic Behavior Analysis, and Road Traffic Safety (bilingual). Elective courses in practice include Integrated and Comprehensive Course Design for Transportation System, High-level Programming Language (C++) Practice, and the Practice of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles.

Professional elective courses include Road Survey and Design, Traffic Geographic Information System, Theory & Applications of Database System, Introduction to Intelligent Transportation System (bilingual), Intelligent Optimization Foundation, High-level Programming Language (C++), Automobile Electronics and Control Technology, Intelligent Transportation System Integration, Transportation Economics (self-study), Modern Logistics Management, Urban Public Transport, Introduction to Urban Rail Transportation (Mooc), Transport Hubs, Transportation Engineering, Transportation and Environment, Transportation Engineering Psychology.

Career:

Aside from pursuing a master’s degree in our or other schools or go abroad, students following this pathway have opportunities to work in applicable government agencies such as Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural development, research institutes of the Ministry of Public Security, as well as public administrative institutions such as Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, the Highway Bureau, the Road Bureau, and the Traffic Bureau; or other economic sections for information, hardware and software system design, traffic computer network and communication system research and development, and management work. Under the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, there are a lot of career choices in China for students following this pathway such as engineering companies and public institutions engaged in intelligent transportation, transportation control, transportation equipment designing and manufacturing, technology development, maintenance, application research, operation, and management.
